Addo National Park is situated in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa, alongside the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River. It is a spectacular park, especially if you’re looking for a peaceful Eden that flourishes with wildlife and unique scenery! As its name entails, the protected area thrives with elephants and is perhaps the country’s best destination to encounter these stunning creatures. In fact, it has one of the densest African elephant populations on Earth!

They are just everywhere! In my opinion, it is simply impossible not to find them! And don’t you dare tell me you’ve been there and couldn’t find any: it would be extremely hard to believe you! Or perhaps you’d have to consider changing your glasses (or binoculars…)!
- The Flightless Dung Beetle
Almost confined to Addo. Since the reserve is elephant country, these little fellows are plentiful too as they use the animal’s dung to lay their eggs!
- Cape Gannets
The park is a refuge to the world’s largest Cape gannet breeding population (on Bird Island).
- African Penguins
Addo is the second largest breeding ground for African penguins.
