In that case it was a maternal instinct at play with a very large and confident warthog. It would be interesting to discuss whether these types of encounters happen more with female than male cats owing to a confidence issue. I wonder how a male lion would have acted with the warthog. Judging from the warthog in the burrow, the lioness could have possibly poked her head down to investigate and received the full force of a warthog accelerating upwards and out. Hi Mike,
