But who knows, perhaps the fellow is a regular "super hero" in the area! :) Some kind of "Robin Hood" of the African bush! ;) It would be very interesting though to study the animal's activities over time... Spot on Anil, I like your thinking! ;)

I think it's easier for humans to say animals don't have feelings or feel pain because it's easier to accept all of the nasty things we do to them. I'd be curious to see if this particular hippo had any more acts of compassion or if this were a one-off event. It’s very touching.
